I love it when eBay sellers don't do their homework!  This was posted as "Rorffrand" and I think I got a deal.  The pattern is Polka.  The designer is Carl Harry Stålhane.

More Christmas before it's boxed away

The Christmas tree came down this weekend and is now at the curb.  Here are a few more pictures of Christmas to tide us over until next year.

The tomte is by Rolf Berg from Sweden.  The blue and white ball is a Royal Copenhagen ornament.

More bits of Christmas

More pictures of Christmas before it's all taken down for the season.  We found several little wooden guys this year that were fun.  The two wooden guys are from Silas Tonttukylä in Finland.  The Christmas balls are from Crate and Barrell and are Sanna Annukka's Taikamylly pattern, which is the same as the tablecloth in the last picture.  The ceramic tomte is made by Nittsjö, and might be designed by Rolf Berg (he has done other designs for Nittsjö that are very similar to this).

Fall into Winter

The end of the year certainly has a lot going on!  Between Thanksgiving and Christmas and New Year's, the mundane parts of life seem to have taken over.  I'm also starting to wonder if my focus here on ceramics is too limiting, and if that's why my updates here have been so sparse of late.  As I look around my house, I realize there are Scandinavian influences everywhere - so, I think in the new year I'm going to start sharing a little bit more than just ceramics (well, I'm going to make it official...I've already had a few non-pottery posts).  

About these pictures:  We used a few different Dansk candleholders for the first time - the brass candlesticks in early December, and the taper crown for Christmas dinner.  

We also completed our collection of Lisa Larson Advent candleholders.  The marks on the bases are not all the same:  the boys have the original Gustavsberg marks, but the girls are marked Rörstrand.  

Christmas Eve dinner was at my parents' house on their lovely Porsgrund Hearts and Pines.

Sagaform Retro

I got this recently at a Scandinavian shop in Stockholm, Wisconsin - I love the retro look of it... and the pattern is called Retro.

Upsala Ekeby Sugar Bowl

I'm back!  We recently got this sweet little sugar bowl in the Ignis Bellis pattern by Upsala-Ekeby/Karlskrona, designed by Eva Bladh.  Still love this pattern!

Rörstrand Picknick

We just found this Rörstrand Picknick dish at a local thrift store!  I believe it was designed by Marianne Westman, and produced between 1960 and 1970.

Lisa Larson Fox

Look at this cute little guy!  A Lisa Larson fox from her Lilla Zoo line.  The bottom has the Lisa Larson sticker, Gustavsberg sticker, and a mystery sticker that's probably just from the store where it was sold, or maybe from a previous owner.

Lisa Larson Lillskansen Fox

A little fox we found at an antique store.  Designed by Lisa Larson for Gustavsberg and part of the Lillskansen line - this one is marked with the number 4 on the bottom and is the smaller of the two foxes. The Lillskansen line was introduced in 1978.

Lisa Larson Cat

One of the cats designed by Lisa Larson for Gustavsberg in Sweden.  There is quite a bit of variation on these cats, and sometimes it can be a challenge to find one with a cute face - I think we did alright with this one...

Ignis Bellis Sauce Pot

This is my first piece of the Ignis Bellis pattern by Upsala Ekeby/Karlskrona.... danger: it might be my new obsession.  It's such a fun little pattern!  The designer was Eva Bladh.

Taisto Kaasinen Vikings

Our Taisto Kaasinen Viking family continues to grow - we just found the metal one in the front.

Ritari Knights

Enamelware bowl made by Finel and designed by Kaj Franck.  The pattern is Ritari and features knights and medieval maidens.  The bowl underneath is by Nittsjö of Sweden.
