Stavangerflint by Inger Waage

This rectangular dish was designed by Inger Waage for Stavangerflint and is part of the Opaque series, also called the Inger series.  The design is matte, with the only glaze colors being black and blue.  The mark on the back of this one has a nice clear example of the mysterious date star around the Stavangerflint logo.

Stavangerflint Bowl

Getting my blogging mojo back with this sweet little Stavangerflint bowl with children playing in a hay wagon.  I don't know the pattern name or the artist, although I would guess it is Inger Waage and it looks like it was part of a children's line.

Stavangerflint Inger Waage

A Stavangerflint plate with design by Inger Waage.  The lute-playing man is almost the identical silkscreen outline that is on the vase we have.

Stavangerflint Norrøna

We got a set of Norrøna dishes for a steal recently, because you can never have too many dishes.  They were designed by Inger Waage.  Not all of them are marked on the bottom - the cups only say "Norway" and a shape number.

Stavangerflint Trivet

This looks like Inger Waage to me.  It does seem to be getting harder to find non-souvenir pieces of Stavangerflint, like this.

Stavangerflint Minnesota Plate

A fun Inger Waage-designed plate highlighting some of the attractions around Minnesota - the capitol in St. Paul, Paul Bunyan, and the Split Rock Lighthouse.  I think the scene in the center is from the Soudan Underground Mine State Park in northern Minnesota, and the green statue is Leif Erikson in Duluth (I had to search for that on google - I had no idea what it was!).

Stavangerflint Bergen Plate

The colors on this Stavangerflint plate are much brighter and more vibrant than most of the Inger Waage designs.

Stavangerflint København Plate

Unpacking some things that were packed away for Christmas.  This little Copenhagen souvenir plate by Inger Waage plate has to be Stavangerflint, but it doesn't have the logo on the back.

Stavangerflint Souvenir Plates

Three souvenir Stavangerflint plates we have hanging in our kitchen.  I was surprised when I found plates for nearby areas that were made in Norway!

The Door County, Wisconsin and Minnesota plates are by Inger Waage.  The Red Wing, Minnesota plate is by Kari Nyquist.

Figgjo and Stavangerflint Shelf

Some Turi Design vases by Figgjo (Turi Gramstad Oliver was the artist), and two souvenir dishes by Stavangerflint designed by Inger Waage - one with the whole country of Norway shown; and the other with the Pulpit Rock (the Preikestolen), which near Stavanger on the Lysefjorden - the bottom of that dish reads "The Lyse Fjord Pulpit."

Stavangerflint Vase by Inger Waage

I love her designs with the simple black and blue glazes and matte finish.  It's a three-sided vase; the two back sides have a flower and bird design.

Stavangerflint Trondheim Plate

We rented a house on Rennesøy, near Stavanger, this past May, and they had this souvenir Trondheim plate hanging in the kitchen.  It was produced by Stavangerflint, and based on the design the artist was Inger Waage (I don't have a picture of the back).

Stavangerflint Souvenir Trondheim Cup

A souvenir cup by Stavangerflint from Trondheim.  The artist on this was Inger Waage - the bird with the leaf-link wings is one of her signature designs.  My great-grandmother was from Melhus, near Trondheim, and I'm hoping to visit that area on my next trip to Norway.

Stavangerflint Flamingo - Bambus Tray

We rented a house on Rennesøy (where my great-grandfather was born) last spring for a few weeks, and the owners had several pieces of Stavangerflint, including this tray.  The design is Flamingo - Bambus, and features fish, lemon, and some herbs (dill or tarragon, perhaps).  The artist was Inger Waage.

Stavangerflint Coffee Set

A coffee set in the Norrøna pattern designed by Inger Waage, including coffee pot, covered sugar bowl, and creamer.  A fantastic modern design.

The bottom is marked with the Stavangerflint logo, Norway, and Norrøna. The sugar bowl is also incised with Norway and 815.

Stavangerflint Plate

The design on this plate was created by Inger Waage.  She was born in Stavanger in 1923, joined Stavangerflint in the early 1950s, and was perhaps the best known artist at Stavangerflint.

The back is marked with the Stavangerflint logo, Norway, Silkscreen, Hand Painted.  It looks like the black outlines were silkscreened, and the colors applied by hand.  I especially like the very loose and abstract application of the colors.

Stavangerflint Plate

Numbered 54-220 on the back and marked Stavangerflint, Handpainted, Norway.  This design was by Inger Waage.
