When I first saw these on eBay I became obsessed, and then I won them! The design with the televisions, antennae, power cord, and musical notes - and the one shape toward the top that looks like a weird bird - is so fantastic and is the perfect representation of when TV was still somewhat of a novelty.
I have a set also! When I found them, I corresponded with the company and found that they were made by Rolf Frøyland who worked at Figgjo from 1945 until 1994. The plate was made in connection to the introduction of television in Norway in the early 60`s. The person I corresponded with (who was almost as interested in finding out the history as I was) actually contacted Mr. Frøyland

ReplyDeleteNice! Do you know if there is a name to the collection? I find that most Figgjo-collections have names but I haven't found out this one. I have only a single plate myself, but yellow, not green.
ReplyDeleteAfter having discovered this lovely set right here on your blog, I recently managed to get my hands on 2 saucers of this series. I am so in love with them, they are gorgeous! Although I sell some of my collection on Etsy too, there are staying with me ;-)

I picked up The saucer at a church garage sale in 1990. I have looked and looked for the name of the pattern and to at least find a cup to match. If you know of one for sale I would love to know. Thank you
